THE NORTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF BLACK HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI (NCABHSA) PARTICIPATED IN THE PRINCEVILLE CHRISTMAS PARADE ON DECEMBER 4, 2009 IN PRINCEVILLE, NC. IT WAS A JOYOUS EXPERIENCE FOR THOSE MEMBERS WHO WERE CHALLENGED BY A COLD AND WET RIDE THROUGH THE STREETS OF PRINCEVILLE, NC. WITH STREETS LINED WITH THE SMILING FACES OF MANY CHILDREN AND PARENTS. IN ADDITION TO SHARING IN THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT AND TOSSING CANDY, NCABHSA'S PURPOSE IN THE PARADE WAS TO ACQUAINT THOSE ALONG THE ROUTE WITH A PART OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY THAT IS NOT WRITTEN OR TALKED ABOUT MUCH. NCABHSA IS COMMITTED TO REMEMBERING THE HISTORY OF BLACK EDUCATION THAT WAS SHARED BY MANY FORMER AFRICAN AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOLS, TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS IN THE SURROUNDING COUNTIES OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA. MEMBERS PROUDLY WORE THEIR T-SHIRTS AND SWEATSHIRTS THAT SHOWED THE ORGANIZATION'S NAME. IT IS NCABHSA'S HOPES THAT THIS PROUD HISTORY WILL BE REMEMBERED BY ALL AND THAT THE ORGANIZATION CAN SERVE THE COMMUNITY IN WAYS THAT WILL ENCOURAGE ALL YOUTH TO ACHIEVE GREATNESS IN EDUCATION AND SOCIETY.
